The Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan), or TPA, was officially founded on January 24, 1973. This was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of Japanese alumni and those who received training through Asia Bunka Kaikan (ABK) and The Association for Overseas Technical Scholarship (AOTS) in Japan. The establishment was successfully achieved with the support of His Excellency Sommai Huntrakool, the former Minister of Finance and Chairman of the founding committee, along with Instructor Goichi Hosumi, the former Chairman of the Japan-Thailand Economic Cooperation Society (JTECS). The primary goals of TPA are to serve as a hub for knowledge dissemination and to introduce new technologies to Thai personnel, thereby fostering economic and industrial growth in Thailand.
TPA has continued to grow and develop, accumulating expertise and experience in various services. These include organizing courses, seminars, training, and self-learning programs; offering consulting services for companies on technology, environmental quality, safety, and management; and providing comprehensive measuring instrument calibration services (TPA Calibration Solutions).
The language and culture school offers foreign language classes, Thai language classes for Japanese, and a translation and interpretation services. It also specializes in producing technical textbooks, foreign language learning materials, and self-development books. These services are available both offline and online.
Additionally, TPA provides media and multimedia production in various languages, handled by a highly qualified team. Currently, TPA operates from two offices: the head office on Sukhumvit Road, Soi 29, and the Technology Promotion Association (Thailand-Japan) building on Phatthanakan Road, Soi 18, Bangkok.
The available services are classified as follows:
TPA organizes various activities that will benefit society, such as the TPA Robot Contest Thailand Championship at the secondary and higher education levels, Quality Award Contests for workplaces and organizations, such as various types of TPA Thailand Awards.
